About the role

  • Reporting to the Tapered Supervisor, the ABC Tapered Estimator is responsible for design and the take-offs of low slope tapered insulation systems as drawn by the architect and/or the designer of the project
  • This includes material layouts, cut lists and shop drawings
  • Responsible for value engineering tapered designs on reroofing and discretionary opportunities
  • Assist ABC Branch personnel in the understanding and purpose of tapered insulation on a low slope roofing project
  • Be able to conduct a conversation with roofing contractors, building owners, and designers as needed to address any issues or concerns pertaining to a particular project
  • Must be able to provide tapered system pricing and costing council to ABC Associates in the field
  • Analyze and evaluate the specification and drawings provided to them from the field
  • Must be able to read and understand architectural blueprints, interpret roof plans, details and specifications
  • Must be proficient on AutoCAD
  • Must be able to check tapered estimates for accuracy
  • Must have a basic understanding of the “system selling” concept in our industry
  • Must be able to operate software that is essential in doing the job
  • Must have an understanding of the various insulation types used in tapered design
  • Develop and cultivate effective ABC Branch and customer relationships
  • Participate in ABC and Industry functions as needed
  • Help solve installation issues and be involved in problem resolution as needed
  • Assign job numbers, verify job information, and follow up as required to improve our hit rate
  • Other duties as requested by the Tapered Supervisor

Requirements

  • A command of the Tapered Plus Software package
  • Track record of achieving annual goals agreed to by the Tapered Supervisor
  • Demonstrate the ability to explain a tapered concept to those that do not understand the business, i.e. ABC associates
  • An understanding of business-to-business relationships
  • Must be organized, detail oriented and have the ability to work under deadlines
  • Must have professional telephone/Zoom/virtual meeting skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Able to operate autonomously with little direction
  • Has a sense of humor and is likeable
  • Valid driver’s license required
