About the role
- Participate in a multidisciplinary collaborative team on the development of real-time wavefront estimation and correction subsystems suitable for laser communications
- Develop analysis methods, software tools, and DSP algorithms to design and test adaptive optics systems
- Drive experimental testbed definition, design, development to test and validate AO subsystem performance
- Run experiments in laboratory conditions and fielded systems to maximize learning towards establishing robust and reliable adaptive optics subsystems
- Actively lead and participate in the full lifecycle of development: design, implementation, verification, troubleshooting, and delivery of adaptive-optics subsystems
- Support demonstrations and tests, ranging from laboratory to fielded customer pilot programs
- Support transition of prototype development and testing infrastructure to manufacturing
Requirements
- Degree in relevant engineering discipline with 3+ years of experience in adaptive optics involving wavefront sensing and/or correction
- Demonstrated proficiency with laser beam propagation in the atmosphere
- Experience working collaboratively across different disciplines (e.g., algorithms, hardware, and software)
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills and collaboration abilities in a multidisciplinary team
- Strong execution track record in schedule and resource-constrained environments
- Advanced degree in relevant engineering discipline with 5+ years of industry experience is preferred
- Experience designing for harsh terrestrial environmental conditions
- Skill in implementing real-time processing in a low-level language such as C/C++ or in an FPGA
