About the role
- Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and functions and optimize T-SQL scripts, indexes, and schemas
- Tune database performance and troubleshoot bottlenecks in production
- Design and manage Azure SQL Managed Instances
- Build and deploy Azure Data Factory pipelines with CI/CD in Azure DevOps
- Work with Azure Synapse and Databricks for advanced analytics (preferred)
- Build scalable pipelines using Azure Data Factory and SSIS
- Apply Medallion Architecture principles (bronze, silver, gold layers)
- Implement secure and compliant data practices including encryption
- Analyze data to identify trends and optimize processes
- Build predictive and prescriptive models using SQL or other tools
- Resolve production issues and support data platform reliability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to turn raw data into actionable insights
Requirements
- Degree in a related field
- 8+ years of SQL development (T-SQL, SSIS)
- 5+ years of hands-on Azure experience (SQL Managed Instance, Data Factory, Azure DevOps)
- Experience building and deploying Azure Data Factory pipelines using CI/CD in Azure DevOps
- Experience with Azure Functions and .NET architecture
- Proficient with Azure CLI and scripting
- Experience with Azure Synapse and Databricks (preferred)
- Experience with Medallion Architecture (bronze/silver/gold) in production
- Skilled in troubleshooting and performance tuning in live systems
- Strong knowledge of data encryption and security best practices in Azure
- Experience building predictive and prescriptive models using SQL or other tools
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Power BI and data visualization experience (bonus)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (bonus)
- Work experience: 8-12 years
