About the role
- Lead deployment and optimisation of SD-WAN solutions across global infrastructure to enhance WAN performance and reduce costs.
- Architect and implement SDN solutions to drive network automation, centralised control, and scalability.
- Design, deploy, and manage a high-performance global IP backbone ensuring interconnections with Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and cross-continental data center connectivity.
- Optimise network traffic using SD-WAN for intelligent routing and latency minimisation; leverage SDN for overall network efficiency.
- Integrate modern solutions with cloud environments (e.g., AWS, OCI) to ensure high availability and low-latency connectivity.
- Implement security policies for SD-WAN, Zero Trust models, VPNs, and firewalls ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with business units and cross-functional teams to deliver network solutions and ensure seamless service delivery.
- Leverage automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, SD-WAN controllers) to streamline deployment and optimise configurations.
- Monitor, analyse, and improve network performance using SD-WAN analytics and SDN monitoring tools.
- Maintain thorough and up-to-date network documentation and report on performance, scalability, and security to stakeholders.
- Work on shaping and evolving the global IP backbone to support growing demands of global connectivity at 1GLOBAL.
Requirements
- 10+ years as an IP/Networking Engineer, with expertise in designing, deploying, and managing high-availability, scalable intercontinental networks.
- Extensive experience designing and managing IP-based mobile backhaul networks for 4G/5G.
- Proven expertise with SD-WAN and SDN technologies (e.g., Cisco ACI).
- Strong experience with IPv6 deployment and QoS configuration.
- Skilled in designing and managing global IP backbones and interconnected data centers.
- Expert-level knowledge of TCP/IP stack and protocols (TCP, UDP, ICMP, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP, DNS, NTP).
- Proficiency in dynamic routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
- Expertise in IPSec VPNs, security hardening, and compliance frameworks (PCI-DSS, ISO27001, CIS).
- Hands-on experience managing Layer 2 (STP, MSTP) and Layer 3 multiservice networks with MPLS and traffic engineering.
- Proficient in network automation and Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
- Experience with network monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, SNMP, and Wireshark.
- Proven ability in WAN optimization, traffic engineering, and latency reduction.
- Leadership skills in mentoring engineers and driving network strategy.
- Fluency in English and CV submitted in English required.
