About the role
- Design and architect scalable, secure enterprise networks using Cisco Catalyst and Nexus platforms.
- Configure and optimize advanced routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, EVPN) to ensure efficient traffic flow and high availability.
- Deploy and manage F5 load balancing solutions, including custom iRules scripting, to ensure application resilience and performance.
- Troubleshoot and serve as escalation point for L2/L3 connectivity problems, hardware failures, and VPN-related disruptions.
- Enforce network security practices using IPSec, 802.1x, TACACS+, and firewalls to maintain compliance.
- Configure and maintain multicast technologies (PIM, MSDP, Anycast-RP) for real-time manufacturing data delivery.
- Lead network upgrades, migrations, hardware/software refreshes, and expansion projects with minimal downtime.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, ISPs, and vendors to coordinate maintenance, resolve escalations, and manage RMAs.
- Maintain detailed network diagrams, configuration records, and SOPs to support audits and streamline troubleshooting.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership to foster continuous learning and operational excellence.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in large-scale, enterprise-class network operations, including planning, design, implementation, and support, with a focus on Cisco devices (Catalyst, Nexus), Firewalls, and Load Balancers.
- CCNP Enterprise or CCIE certification (current or expired within the last 3 years).
- 3+ years of experience with F5 Load Balancing setups, including iRules.
- Extensive experience with routing protocols and network technologies.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting complex network issues, including hardware, L3/L2 problems, application connectivity, and P2P VPN connections.
- Experience with PIM, MSDP, Anycast-RP, and Multicast in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong customer focus, a sense of ownership, urgency, responsibility for network documentation, and a passion for mentoring team members.
- Must reside within a 1-hour drive of Taylor, TX.
- Willing and able to commute to the office 5 days per week.
- Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
- Preferred: Experience supporting networks in large manufacturing environments, particularly within a 24/7 operational context.
- Preferred: Expertise in high availability network environments.
- Preferred: Strong background in server network connectivity (Teaming, VPC, LACP).
- Preferred: Experience with Packet Capture Analysis and SSL certificates.
- Preferred: F5 Load Balancers or Palo Alto Firewalls certification, with at least 5 years of hands-on experience.
- Preferred: Familiarity with Unix/Linux and scripting in Python, Ansible, or other automation tools.
