Controller

• This position is accountable for the analysis and reporting of site financial data including sales, cost of sales, margin analysis, inventory valuation and reconciliation, manufacturing performance, manufacturing variances, income statements, balance sheets, operational variances, capital expenditures, forecast/planning and special projects.
• The individual is expected to prepare and analyze the site’s annual financial plan, as well as develop, review and maintain control procedures regarding financial and operational controls of the business unit and prepare/review monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
• This position reports to the North America Controllership Director with dotted-line responsibilities to the Plant Manager.
• The position supports two small plants, generally with revenue of $75M or less.
• The site controller manages one direct report, the site accounting associate.
• Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, and/or reports required by regulatory agencies.
• Establishes rigorous and disciplined accounting and internal controls.
• Ensure financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flows) are compliant with US GAAP and accurate without exception.
• Adherence to all Valmont financial policies.
• Accurate inventory valuation including periodic cycle counts and valuation in compliance with FIFO.
• Accurate and timely customer invoicing.
• Revenue recognition in accordance with US GAAP.
• Receivables valuation including maintenance of subledgers, reconciling items and reserves in compliance with policy.
• Warranty accruals, reflective of known and/or expected failures and costs to remediate.
• Expense accruals.
• Payables, accrued liabilities, and debt balances.
• Balance sheet reconciliations.
• SOX controls.
• Collaborate closely with site operations finance/controllers to build out reporting for daily, weekly, and monthly needs related to various operational measurements.
• Manage working capital.
• Work with operations to manage inventory.
• Works with the business to ensure working capital is sufficient to fund best-in-class business as well as cognizant of need for cash flow.
• Assist in preparing, implementing, and monitoring the Annual Operating Plan and various financial reports/statistics to ensure adherence to short and long-range financial goals.
• Monitor performance to plan throughout the year.
• Administer policies and procedures supporting the Plant Manager and operational staff to ensure maximum productivity and throughput.
• Oversees monthly Accounting close activities in accordance with established procedures to ensure timely completion and accurate information.
• Perform statistical analysis to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes to site performance and present findings.

Site Controller – Small Site

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close.
• Build an efficient, repeatable monthly close process focused on a timely, predictable cadence that meets sponsor and lender expectations.
• Reconcile franchisor-controlled membership billing to the general ledger and validate deferred / recurring membership revenue.
• Prepare accurate, GAAP-compliant financial statements, ensuring consistency across multiple legal entities, clubs, and business units.
• Drive execution of Sage Intacct migration, including chart-of-accounts design, dimensional reporting, testing, data migration and cutover.
• Lead the transition from cash-basis to full accrual accounting.
• Stand up scalable, repeatable processes that support rapid new-club onboarding.
• Lead automation of AP, AR, and reconciliations to reduce manual work and outsourced-firm reliance.
• Integrate source systems (ABC Fitness billing, Paylocity payroll, Ramp) into the accounting stack as needed.
• Design and document internal controls across cash handling, purchasing, and membership revenue recognition.
• Ensure regulatory compliance (sales/use tax, property tax, and other state/local requirements) across all club locations.
• Conduct periodic self-audits to proactively identify risks and gaps.
• Initiate and control wires for new-club real estate/build costs, capital investments, and tax payments.
• Optimize working capital, balancing payables, receivables, and capital expenditure needs across an active build pipeline.
• Own fixed-asset accounting and construction-in-progress (CIP) tracking across the new-build pipeline.
• Track and report unit-level capital deployment against budget.

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for both broker-dealers.
• Oversee preparation and review of GAAP financial statements and related disclosures.
• Manage internal and external audits.
• Ensure accurate accounting for trading, underwriting, securities financing, advisory, and commission-based activities.
• Maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and financial reporting governance.
• Provide accounting leadership for new products, business growth initiatives, and acquisitions.
• Lead and develop accounting professionals while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Controller – Capital Markets, Brokerage

• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting processes.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Lead accounting activities for trust, wealth management, investment advisory, asset management, and related fiduciary businesses.
• Maintain effective internal controls and support audit and examination activities.
• Partner with business leadership on financial analysis, process improvements, and strategic initiatives.
• Manage and develop a high-performing accounting team.

Controller – Investment & Fiduciary Services

• Oversee the company’s accounting and financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and financial integrity across all business functions.
• Manage the accounting team and lead the processes for financial close, audits, budgeting, and internal controls.
• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process end-to-end, ensuring financials are accurate, complete, and delivered on a consistent, reliable timeline.
• Establish and enforce a disciplined close calendar with clear deadlines, ownership, and review controls.
• Review and approve all journal entries, accruals, and financial statements, ensuring they are fully supported and aligned with GAAP.
• Identify breakdowns in the close process and implement improvements that increase accuracy, speed, and consistency.
• Deliver financial reporting that is clear, explainable, and actionable for leadership.
• Ensure all balance sheet accounts are fully reconciled monthly, supported, and reviewed, with no aged or unexplained balances.
• Build and enforce standardized reconciliation processes, including documentation, review, and approval workflows.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies across systems (GL, payroll, billing, bank activity) to ensure full alignment.
• Maintain clear, accurate visibility into cash and financial position at all times.
• Own all treasury functions, including cash management, banking relationships, and liquidity oversight.
• Monitor cash flow, forecast needs, and ensure sufficient funding across accounts and programs.
• Oversee bank reconciliations, cash movement, and controls around disbursements and receipts.

Vice President, Finance – Controller

• Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Manage general ledger, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month/year-end close processes.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal/state regulations, and nonprofit accounting standards.
• Oversee chart of accounts structure and accuracy of departmental reporting.
• Monitor and analyze budget-to-actual performance; provide variance reports and recommendations.
