About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support and promote Zurich’s values, ethics, and responsible business conduct in your day‑to‑day work
  • Assist the Company Secretariat with: organising board and committee meetings and statutory meetings preparing meeting packs and basic governance documentation supporting board effectiveness reviews, renewals, and Director training
  • Help identify and escalate potential conflicts between management and legal entity perspectives, ensuring these are managed appropriately
  • Support more senior lawyers in advising on laws and regulations related to non‑insurance commercial activities, such as: sourcing and procurement contracts data protection and privacy human resources and employment‑related matters
  • Assist with maintaining relationships with insurance regulators, including helping prepare documentation and information for regulatory interactions
  • Contribute to work on maintaining an effective and transparent corporate governance system, ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and Zurich principles
  • Help monitor legal and regulatory developments, preparing initial summaries and briefing materials and working with Compliance to support implementation
  • Support senior lawyers in: structuring and negotiating local corporate transactions protecting Zurich’s assets and managing local legal issues
  • Work with the M&A legal team by helping to collate information and documentation needed to meet regulatory requirements in proposed transactions
  • Assist the business with insurance law and regulations across the value chain (including cross‑border aspects), for example: licensing product development distribution and reinsurance
  • Contribute to project work by: providing input to project teams preparing draft documents and reports learning from, and being coached by, more experienced team members

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in law (LL.B or equivalent; an LL.M or further relevant qualification is an advantage but not essential)
  • Newly qualified or post‑qualification experience as an Attorney‑at‑Law, Manx advocate, solicitor, or barrister
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly and concisely
  • Some exposure to insurance, financial services, or regulatory work is helpful but not essential – a genuine interest in developing expertise in these areas is key
  • Good analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with attention to detail and a practical mindset
  • An interest in corporate governance and corporate transactions, and a willingness to learn how legal issues impact business decisions
  • A collaborative, proactive approach and readiness to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
