About the role
- Underwriting new and renewal business under limited direction
- Proactively seeking new account opportunities and managing existing renewal accounts
- Demonstrating specialized knowledge and expertise in underwriting excess casualty lines of business
- Completing detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify growth opportunities
- Contributing to the development and completion of proposals
- Qualifying accounts balancing sound business opportunity
- Making agent/broker/customer calls with a planned purpose
- Negotiating Terms & Conditions and closing deals
- Cross-Selling other lines of business to increase product density
- Participating in Sales Team meetings related to assigned brokers/territory
- Engaging in target account process managing opportunities 90 to 120 days prior to effective date
- Developing strong broker and client networks related to industries underwritten
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with 7+ years in Underwriting/Market Facing area OR 14+ years in Claims/Underwriting Support area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with Associate Degree and 5+ years in Underwriting/Market Facing area OR 12+ years in Claims/Underwriting Support area OR Bachelor's Degree with 9+ years in Underwriting/Market Facing area OR 18+ years in Claims/Underwriting Support area
- Experience in Excess & Surplus Property Underwriting Preferred
