About the role
- Handle complex new and renewal business as a Subject Matter Expert
- Serve as a customer industry advocate with focus on improving customer experience
- Use disciplined approach to exposure evaluation, risk assessment, and pricing
- Use risk insights, data, and models to drive informed decisions at point of sale
- Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines
- Develop and maintain agency and broker relationships
- Underwrite, analyze and generate new and renewal business
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing area OR 10+ years in Claims or Underwriting Support area
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
- Experience working in a team environment
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Established broker relationships in the New York region
- Ability to effectively assess risk
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong retail broker relationships
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines
- CPCU or ARM a plus
