About the role

  • End-to-end development of flight controllers for various UAV platforms (from concept through simulation, prototype implementation, autopilot integration, to flight testing)
  • Design, modeling and optimization of control and navigation algorithms
  • Development of mathematical models for flight mechanics, system dynamics and aerodynamic effects
  • Conducting simulations in MATLAB/Simulink or comparable tools to evaluate control laws
  • Specification, preparation and execution of flight control tests (SIL, HIL, ground tests and flight tests)
  • Analysis, documentation and continuous improvement of controller performance based on real flight data
  • Close collaboration with aerodynamics, flight mechanics, embedded hardware & software, and test & integration teams
  • Contributing to the development and optimization of the autopilot stack
  • Researching and re-implementing current scientific approaches to modern flight-control methods

Requirements

  • Degree (M.Sc. or PhD) in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, robotics, electrical engineering or a comparable field
  • Strong skills in MATLAB/Simulink and experience with simulation-based system design
  • Solid knowledge of aerodynamics, flight control, system modeling and flight mechanics
  • Experience implementing control algorithms in real-time autopilot software
  • Good software engineering skills, especially in MATLAB and languages such as Python, C++, Rust
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and appropriately to different audiences — both internally and externally
  • Analytical thinking, a structured working style and a strong quality focus
  • Passion for current research trends in UAV control, autonomous systems and modern control laws
