About the role

  • Development and evaluation of aircraft configurations (fixed-wing, VTOL, hybrid) in the early design phases
  • Conduct aerodynamic and flight mechanics analyses, including stability, controllability and performance calculations
  • Prepare mass and center-of-gravity estimates, performance charts and mission simulations
  • Integrate propulsion systems, payloads and avionics into the overall configuration
  • Work closely with structures, control systems and electronics teams to realize an optimized overall system
  • Support system design and flight testing of the developed platforms
  • Produce technical reports, presentations and design documentation

Requirements

  • Completed degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering or a comparable field
  • Strong knowledge of aircraft design, aerodynamics and flight mechanics
  • Experience with design and simulation software (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, XFOIL, AVL, OpenVSP, CFD tools)
  • Understanding of multidisciplinary design processes (aerodynamic, structural, propulsion)
  • Basic knowledge of performance and stability analyses; ideally experience in UAV design
  • Independent, analytical and solution-oriented working style with a high degree of self-initiative
  • Good communication skills in German and English
  • Enthusiasm for innovative aircraft systems and working in a dynamic development environment
