About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the development and maintenance of the company’s standard costing system, ensuring all product costs are accurate and up to date.
  • Perform detailed analysis of manufacturing variances, including material price, labor efficiency, and overhead spending, to identify areas for cost improvement.
  • Prepare and record monthly journal entries related to inventory, cost of goods sold (COGS), and manufacturing allocations.
  • Conduct regular reviews of Bill of Materials (BOM) and routing to ensure accurate labor and overhead absorption.
  • Participate in the month-end close process by reconciling inventory sub-ledgers to the general ledger and investigating discrepancies.
  • Assist in the calculation and application of overhead rates in accordance with company policy and US GAAP.
  • Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, or manufacturing methods to determine the impact on product costs and margins.
  • Coordinate and support physical inventory counts and cycle counting programs at manufacturing or warehouse locations.
  • Monitor and report on inventory obsolescence and slow-moving stock to ensure appropriate reserve levels.
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to provide financial insights into operational performance and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Prepare routine and ad-hoc cost reports for management, highlighting trends in gross margin and production spending.
  • Assist in the preparation of cost data for annual budgeting and periodic forecasting cycles.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2+ years of Accounting experience
  • Computer skills to include Excel, Monarch, Microsoft Word, e-mail and accounting software packages
  • Prior experience with SAP would be highly desirable
  • Proficient on 10 key
  • Experience and/or knowledge of SOX 404 requirements is preferred
