About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Support the development and maintenance of the company’s standard costing system, ensuring all product costs are accurate and up to date.
Perform detailed analysis of manufacturing variances, including material price, labor efficiency, and overhead spending, to identify areas for cost improvement.
Prepare and record monthly journal entries related to inventory, cost of goods sold (COGS), and manufacturing allocations.
Conduct regular reviews of Bill of Materials (BOM) and routing to ensure accurate labor and overhead absorption.
Participate in the month-end close process by reconciling inventory sub-ledgers to the general ledger and investigating discrepancies.
Assist in the calculation and application of overhead rates in accordance with company policy and US GAAP.
Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, or manufacturing methods to determine the impact on product costs and margins.
Coordinate and support physical inventory counts and cycle counting programs at manufacturing or warehouse locations.
Monitor and report on inventory obsolescence and slow-moving stock to ensure appropriate reserve levels.
Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to provide financial insights into operational performance and cost-saving initiatives.
Prepare routine and ad-hoc cost reports for management, highlighting trends in gross margin and production spending.
Assist in the preparation of cost data for annual budgeting and periodic forecasting cycles.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
2+ years of Accounting experience
Computer skills to include Excel, Monarch, Microsoft Word, e-mail and accounting software packages
Prior experience with SAP would be highly desirable
Proficient on 10 key
Experience and/or knowledge of SOX 404 requirements is preferred
