About the role

  • ZeroTier’s leads the world in next-generation connectivity and cybersecurity.
  • Build and optimize next-generation networking agent in Rust.
  • Drive architectural decisions and ensure security best practices.
  • Implement low-level systems code, OS APIs, and protocol handling.
  • Improve observability, telemetry, and runtime diagnostics.
  • Lead performance profiling and tuning for reliability and throughput.
  • Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and executive stakeholders.
  • Provide technical mentorship and shape SDLC of ZeroTier’s core platform

Requirements

  • Deep proficiency in Rust and low-level systems programming.
  • Experience in network and operating system APIs and networking primitives.
  • Experience with encryption, secure coding practices, and threat modeling.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols and concepts (TCP/IP, UDP, NAT traversal, etc.) - professional or hobbyist experience welcome.
  • Proven experience driving cross-functional outcomes at a staff-plus level.
  • Experience with telemetry, performance measurement, and production observability tools.
  • Familiarity with the full software development lifecycle in modern product environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • Experience in a startup or fast-paced environment is a strong plus
