About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Play a key role in asset finance, commercial and contract-related matters in Spain
Support and lead specified legal matters for the Spanish team
Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including electric vehicle manufacturers and operators
Manage general commercial legal aspects of the business in Spain
Draft, negotiate and review commercial contracts, including LOIs, master rental agreements, vehicle purchase agreements, maintenance agreements, EV charger supply and warranty agreements, operation and maintenance agreements, and service agreements
Advise internal and external stakeholders on corporate governance, regulatory matters and data protection issues
Provide day-to-day advice on key risks and legal issues
Work with Spanish external legal counsel
Contribute to health, safety, wellbeing and sustainability practices

Requirements

What you’ll need

5–10 years PQE, having trained and qualified at a good regional, national or international law firm
Spanish law or English law qualified and experience working in Spain
Spanish speaker at first-language or fluent-second-language level, written and spoken
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Spanish and English
Experienced contract negotiator with commercial awareness
Commercial experience essential
Asset finance experience advantageous
In-house experience ideally
Excellent legal drafting skills
Sound commercial judgment and ability to prioritise effectively
Ability to establish trust-based relationships across teams in the UK and Spain
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with significant responsibility and ownership
Excellent organisational skills; able to multitask, meet deadlines and manage competing demands
Strong attention to detail and consistently high-quality work
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Located in Spain preferred but not essential, or located in London and able to work in Madrid at least one week a month
Understanding of the energy regulatory environment and energy-sector experience advantageous
