About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Create models, drawings, and configurations of hardware with a focus on mechanical systems including tooling, mechanisms, and routed systems.
Generate component and assembly product definition by preparing design layouts and drawings, modifying existing designs and resolving design discrepancies.
Implement engineering and manufacturing best practices to achieve a balanced approach to cost, schedule, and performance requirements.
Collaborate closely with structural, thermal, and nuclear teams to implement and optimize design based on system requirements.
Identify and execute design improvements to optimize performance, manufacturability, and cost.
Perform model and drawing check activities during release reviews.
Release component models and drawings for manufacturing per internal release and review processes.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Minimum of Associate's Degree in Drafting/Engineering Technology with 7+ years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience
Proficient in the use of CAD software, SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM is required.
Experience in the design of maritime systems, nuclear systems, ground support equipment, or manufacturing tooling.
Experience with codes and standards for maritime pressure vessel design a plus.
Experience in standard fits, tolerance stacks, and GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.100, Y14.5/Y14.5M, Y14.41).
Proficient in drawing generation, checking, design documentation, and release processes.
Practical experience in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
