About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Create models, drawings, and configurations of hardware with a focus on mechanical systems including tooling, mechanisms, and routed systems.
- Generate component and assembly product definition by preparing design layouts and drawings, modifying existing designs and resolving design discrepancies.
- Implement engineering and manufacturing best practices to achieve a balanced approach to cost, schedule, and performance requirements.
- Collaborate closely with structural, thermal, and nuclear teams to implement and optimize design based on system requirements.
- Identify and execute design improvements to optimize performance, manufacturability, and cost.
- Perform model and drawing check activities during release reviews.
- Release component models and drawings for manufacturing per internal release and review processes.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of Associate's Degree in Drafting/Engineering Technology with 7+ years of relevant experience, or Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience
- Proficient in the use of CAD software, SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM is required.
- Experience in the design of maritime systems, nuclear systems, ground support equipment, or manufacturing tooling.
- Experience with codes and standards for maritime pressure vessel design a plus.
- Experience in standard fits, tolerance stacks, and GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.100, Y14.5/Y14.5M, Y14.41).
- Proficient in drawing generation, checking, design documentation, and release processes.
- Practical experience in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
