About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- responsible for leading and optimizing all transportation, logistics, scheduling, and distribution activities across multiple manufacturing facilities and distribution centers
- provides strategic leadership to a team of three Regional Logistics Managers
- accountable for delivering best-in-class performance in the areas of cost, service, safety, and shipment execution
- work closely with Sales, Operations, Warehouse, Customer Service, and Supply Chain teams to ensure customer commitments are achieved
- drive continuous improvement initiatives, network optimization, carrier strategy, and operational excellence across the organization
- creation and maintenance of all departmental reporting including freight budgets, monthly and quarterly KPIs, carrier performance scorecards, as well as ad hoc reporting/analysis
- develop reports for other Logistics Managers to facilitate constant access to freight costs and KPIs
- coordinate with Logistics Managers and Director to ensure all carrier strategies are executed at the Logistics Dispatcher level
- ensure carrier compliance with all customer service requirements as well as standardizing all internal operating procedures
- lead all new acquisition integration for Logistics including integration of carriers to Zekelman standards, contracts, rate negotiations, as well as employee and carrier training for all systems
- travel within the US and Canada will be required as needed.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree or Diploma from an accredited post-secondary school
- Previous experience in Logistics is preferred
- Previous work with a large flatbed shipper is preferred
- Very detail oriented
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organization skills and multi-tasking capabilities
- Ability to work in a fast paced and highly stressful environment at times
- Previous experience with a Transportation Management System is a bonus
- Ability to work within a team and with minimal supervision
- Ability to travel when required for training purposes.
