About the role
- You will work at ZEIT's newsdesk providing minute-by-minute coverage of politics, business, society, culture, science, and sports.
- You will take shifts, write and edit news briefs and background pieces, conduct interviews, caption photo galleries, contribute to liveblogs, and produce newsletters.
- You monitor and analyze news developments using all sources relevant to online journalism, and you work precisely and accurately under time pressure.
- You will occasionally take responsibility for the homepage as editor-on-duty.
- You will regularly work during off-peak hours and on several weekend days each month.
Requirements
- You have completed journalistic training and/or have several years of experience as a news editor, ideally at a news agency or an online news portal.
- You write clearly and confidently and can quickly familiarize yourself with new subject areas and breaking news situations.
- Ideally, you bring expertise that goes beyond politics and business.
- The journalistic use of AI and social media is second nature to you, as is working in various editorial systems (CMS).
- Ideally, you have excellent proficiency in a non-European language or in Turkish.
