About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Define and own system-level image quality metrics and acceptance criteria
- Design and execute repeatable image-quality test protocols and golden-sample workflows
- Publish dashboards and control charts
- Build Python/Matlab analysis pipelines to compute MTF, SNR/CNR, and other figures of merit
- Develop and evaluate calibration, preprocessing, reconstruction, and artifact-suppression methods
- Prototype algorithms, create validation plans and datasets, and quantify improvements against baselines
- Contribute to scan-optimization playbooks
- Lead image-quality activities for NPI programs, including requirements, verification/validation plans, results analysis, and derisking experiments
- Lead root-cause investigations for field and production image-quality issues and define corrective actions
- Provide tier-3 support for image-quality escalations and coordinate multidisciplinary 8D investigations
- Create and deliver CT theory and practical-scanning training
- Mentor peers in artifact recognition and mitigation
- Define best practices and SOPs for image-quality checks in manufacturing and service
- Author and maintain protocols, work instructions, calibration procedures, and release notes
- Support FMEA, design history, and ECR/ECO change-control packages
- Collaborate with software, production, service, QA, manufacturing engineering, applications, and other cross-functional teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or Computer Sciences with 10 years of experience, or Ph.D. with 5 years of relevant experience
- Degree and experience within the field of X-ray, CT, microscopy, or medical imaging
- Understanding of a wide range of internal and third-party reconstruction, image processing, and 3D visualization software
- Experience with X-ray or CT technology required
- Ability to generate and maintain engineering documentation in high levels of technical detail desired
- Knowledge of radiation safety, lab safety, and applicable regulatory standards
