About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage the assigned territory by contacting customers, scheduling high-volume on-site training appointments, arranging travel, and addressing customer inquiries.
  • Deliver tailored training to physicians and staff on medical device operation and clinical applications.
  • Answer complex questions, identify and resolve issues, and conduct follow-up visits.
  • Monitor customer commitment using ZEISS Surgical Suite and provide feedback to management and the Surgical Suite sales team.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of the ophthalmic surgical industry and competitive devices.
  • Coordinate on-site trainings with Surgical Application Specialists in adjacent territories and assist in other territories as needed.
  • Maintain and update product knowledge on Carl Zeiss products.
  • Collaborate with marketing and surgical sales teams to keep training materials current.
  • Attend and support trade shows, conferences, exhibits, and seminars.
  • Serve as the customer subject matter expert for Surgical Suite technical and clinical issues and resolve difficult situations.
  • Identify and communicate sales leads and influence purchasing decisions; provide sales support.
  • Complete administrative tasks including calendars, expense reports, CRM, and product training checklists.
  • Support field training of new Surgical Application Specialists and Sales Representatives.
  • Provide feature-improvement feedback to product managers.
  • Develop training content and present lectures and workshops.
  • Support management with resolving field issues and train on ancillary surgical instruments when schedule permits.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 5 plus years of experience in an ophthalmic surgical setting, ophthalmic industry, or comparable experience.
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of cataract surgery and IOL calculations, ocular anatomy and pathology as they relate to ophthalmic surgery.
  • Must hold industry standard credentialing.
  • Requires effective communication skills and teaching ability to direct customers in a surgical environment.
  • Stellar communications skills (written & verbal) and teaching ability to work with customers in challenging situations.
  • Demonstrates exceptional judgment and decision making with defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate answers.
  • Medium level skills in computers and accompanying software (Microsoft Office—Word, Excel).
  • Capacity to handle difficult situations and deal effectively and harmoniously with various personnel, internally and externally, at all levels.
  • Must travel overnight and work occasional weekends.
  • Well organized and capable of working independently with no supervision.
  • Must be able to obtain sufficient credit to cover incurred business expenses which will be reimbursed upon expense report submission and approval.
  • Requires valid driver’s license and good driving record.
