About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist customers and the ZEISS Sales team with pre- and post-sales application engineering activities
- Plan, prepare, and perform high-quality customer demonstrations in-house and in the field
- Provide technical consultation to Field Sales personnel and customers
- Network on advanced applications and systems
- Maintain focus on advanced applications and new ZEISS 3D optical technology
- Support introduction of new products into the North American market
- Provide technical after-sales support for successful use of systems
- Provide field support for all IQS 3D Optical systems
- Respond to customer and IQS department software/application support questions
- Aid with software and system testing for product development
- Analyze customer inspection requirements
- Estimate anticipated Gage R&R results
- Provide on-site support for quoted application items
- Support IT-related issues including Windows, networking, and database management
- Deliver demonstrations, custom support classes, trainings, telephone support, and on-site support as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- A four-year degree in Engineering, Computer Science or Physics is required; equivalent work-related experience may be considered
- 3–5 years of professional experience
- Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings
- Understanding of 3D mathematics and computer programming techniques in any modern scientific computer languages
- Excellent verbal communication skills and comfort presenting technical information to small or large audiences
- Ability to write clear and concise technical reports
- Ability to perform in a Teacher/Trainer related capacity during product demonstrations or on-site support
- Ability to relate product benefits to customer problem solutions
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently from problem statement to solution
- Ability to learn independently to solve potential customer measurement problems
- Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time
