About the role

  • Lead all aspects of financial operations, including transactional finance, cash flow, and working capital management.
  • Strengthen and embed a robust financial control environment, ensuring integrity, compliance, and scalability.
  • Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, delivering accurate and timely results.
  • Own statutory and regulatory financial reporting (under IFRS), ensuring accuracy, transparency, and compliance.
  • Manage the year-end audit process, serving as the key liaison with external auditors.
  • Uphold strong governance and compliance standards across all financial reporting.
  • Oversee all tax matters (corporate, VAT, and employment taxes), ensuring effective compliance and planning.
  • Manage relationships with external tax and audit partners, ensuring efficiency and alignment.
  • Represent Zego externally on financial and tax matters with professionalism and credibility.
  • Lead, develop, and inspire the finance team to achieve operational excellence.
  • Partner with the CFO and wider leadership team to deliver financial insights that drive business decisions.
  • Play a leading role in the ongoing finance transformation, leveraging AI and automation to build a smarter, more data-driven function.

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) with extensive post-qualification experience in senior finance leadership.
  • Strong technical accounting expertise (IFRS / UK GAAP) with a proven track record in external reporting and control.
  • Experienced in managing tax, audit, and financial governance in complex, fast-paced environments.
  • Commercially aware, strategic, and comfortable operating in a scaling tech-led business.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills — able to influence across the organisation and inspire teams.
  • Experience in the motor insurance or insurtech sector is preferred but not essential.
  • Passionate about innovation, transformation, and building robust financial foundations for the future.
