About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supports the planning and coordination of community events, meetings, workshops, and gatherings.
  • Maintains event schedules, task lists, supply lists, attendance records, and post-event reports.
  • Identifies and communicates issues, risks, or supply needs before and during events.
  • Assists with event setup, takedown, preparation, signage, and materials.
  • Coordinates event supplies, food, hospitality, vendors, and volunteers.
  • Helps ensure events are welcoming, organized, respectful, and culturally appropriate.
  • Supports Elders, citizens, community members, and guests during events as needed.
  • Maintains organized event files, contact lists, and vendor records.
  • Tracks event-related expenses and supports reconciliation with the Communications budget.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Grade 12 Diploma; additional administrative, communications, hospitality, or event-management training is an asset.
  • A combination of education and experience supporting events, community programs, or hospitality work is welcomed; recent graduates and those completing practicums are encouraged to apply.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with social media platforms.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle (required for event-related pickups, deliveries, and travel across territory).
  • Ability to lift, move, and set up event supplies (up to 20 kg).
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, when events require it.
  • Knowledge of Yuułuʔiłʔatḥ culture, language, and protocols is preferred.
  • Previous experience supporting First Nations community events or programs is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Canva, Mailchimp, or similar communications tools is preferred.
