About the role

  • provide strong financial stewardship across the organization
  • work closely with the Executive, Legislature, and Finance Committee
  • provide financial leadership, advice, and oversight
  • support transparent governance, informed decision-making, and long-term financial sustainability
  • lead and manage the Finance Department
  • strengthen core financial systems, controls, and internal capacity
  • support effective budgeting and financial management
  • oversee financial reporting, audit coordination, treasury and cash flow management
  • prepare and present clear, accurate financial reports and analysis
  • oversee relationships with external auditors, advisors, and consultants

Requirements

  • bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related discipline
  • Certified Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
  • 6 to 8 years of directly related financial management experience
  • at least 2 to 3 years in a senior financial leadership role
  • corporate and auditing experience
  • experience developing financial policy
  • strong knowledge of GAAP and ideally PSAB
  • experience working within regulated environments and professional standards
  • ability to operate effectively in complex governance contexts
  • strong relationship-building skills and professional credibility
  • cultural humility
  • experience working with Indigenous governments or communities is valued
