About the role
- Provide first-line technical support across all aspects of modern PCB assembly.
- Assist with introducing new products into manufacturing, determining efficient production methods, and guiding design/production teams.
- Research, propose, and implement new equipment, processes, and tooling improvements, including preparing capital expenditure justifications.
- Deliver training and guidance to operators, engineers, and production staff on PCB production topics.
- Analyse supplier quality feedback (8D) and work closely with suppliers and purchasing to prevent and resolve issues.
- Support Design for Manufacture (DFM) activities and act as an interface between manufacturing and other business functions.
- Contribute to cost‑reduction initiatives and monitor job‑related costs.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of modern production engineering, inspection methods, and test practices; implement process improvements.
- Create and support reflow profiles and AOI inspection programs for SMT PCB assemblies.
- Support the introduction of new system test and firmware methods into manufacturing.
- Participate in team and cross‑functional meetings, communicate technical issues effectively, and support structured problem-solving.
- Ensure adherence to health & safety standards and promote safe working practices.
- Work with production documentation, equipment data, and technical information with accuracy and organisation.
Requirements
- HNC or Degree in an Electronics-related discipline.
- Strong understanding of electrical and electronic assembly, hardware design, and software development principles.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with technical drawing tools or simulation software beneficial.
- Knowledge of manufacturing management systems (MMS) is advantageous.
- Experience in the electronics manufacturing industry.
- In depth understanding of PCB assembly technologies, with specialist knowledge in several core areas.
- Experience in electromechanical production processes, including awareness of material and process constraints.
- Demonstrated success implementing significant process changes and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
