About the role

  • Drive the introduction of new products into manufacturing, defining efficient production methods and providing guidance to design and production teams.
  • Lead structured problem‑solving activities for production-related issues.
  • Contribute to cost‑reduction initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support the introduction of new processes, technologies, and tooling, including preparing capital expenditure justifications.
  • Deliver training and guidance to operators on production‑related topics.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of modern production engineering practices and manufacturing technologies.
  • Act as a key interface between manufacturing and other business functions.
  • Work collaboratively across all business levels to support efficient use of resources.
  • Generate estimates and monitor costs related to the job function.
  • Promote and uphold health & safety standards.
  • Liaise regularly with external suppliers and customers.
  • Work accurately under pressure with production equipment data and build documentation.
  • Manage multiple tasks simultaneously, including project work and departmental responsibilities.
  • Provide guidance to production staff and engineers (no direct people management).

Requirements

  • Good level of experience in the electronics manufacturing industry
  • HNC or Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Strong understanding of production processes, ideally including electromechanical manufacturing
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and ideally a Manufacturing Management System (MMS)
  • Experience with drawing/CAD tools is desirable
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across teams, customers, and suppliers
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build productive working relationships
  • Able to plan work effectively around departmental objectives and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving capability across multiple functional areas
  • Highly organised, methodical, and accurate when working under pressure
  • Financial awareness — able to produce quotations and monitor spend (no direct budget ownership)
  • Willing to take responsibility, work hard, and learn through provided training.
