About the role
- Drive the introduction of new products into manufacturing, defining efficient production methods and providing guidance to design and production teams.
- Lead structured problem‑solving activities for production-related issues.
- Contribute to cost‑reduction initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
- Support the introduction of new processes, technologies, and tooling, including preparing capital expenditure justifications.
- Deliver training and guidance to operators on production‑related topics.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of modern production engineering practices and manufacturing technologies.
- Act as a key interface between manufacturing and other business functions.
- Work collaboratively across all business levels to support efficient use of resources.
- Generate estimates and monitor costs related to the job function.
- Promote and uphold health & safety standards.
- Liaise regularly with external suppliers and customers.
- Work accurately under pressure with production equipment data and build documentation.
- Manage multiple tasks simultaneously, including project work and departmental responsibilities.
- Provide guidance to production staff and engineers (no direct people management).
Requirements
- Good level of experience in the electronics manufacturing industry
- HNC or Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
- Strong understanding of production processes, ideally including electromechanical manufacturing
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and ideally a Manufacturing Management System (MMS)
- Experience with drawing/CAD tools is desirable
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across teams, customers, and suppliers
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build productive working relationships
- Able to plan work effectively around departmental objectives and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated problem‑solving capability across multiple functional areas
- Highly organised, methodical, and accurate when working under pressure
- Financial awareness — able to produce quotations and monitor spend (no direct budget ownership)
- Willing to take responsibility, work hard, and learn through provided training.
