About the role
- The Associate Instructional Designer supports the creation and maintenance of training and performance support materials in alignment with Habit’s mission. Working closely with senior team members, this role assists in the development of digital and blended learning solutions for the fast-paced restaurant environment. This is a hybrid role based at our Irvine, CA office and includes occasional local travel.
- Project Management: Supports multiple learning projects at a time by tracking tasks, meeting deadlines, and coordinating with Team Members to ensure quality execution.
- Assists in managing project priorities based on business needs and strategies.
- Collaborates with Operations and other cross-functional teams to achieve best solutions and mutual commitments within a project.
- Establishes and maintains good working relationships with Subject Matter Experts.
- Design & Development: Assists in identifying training needs by gathering feedback and data.
- Design and develop effective and engaging learning materials, using eLearning authoring tools, Adobe InDesign, and MS Office.
- Collects learner feedback and evaluation data to support continuous improvement efforts.
- Plans, shoots, and edits simple instructional videos. Experience or interest in supporting multimedia production strongly preferred.
- Provides recommendations for continuous improvement based on evaluation data, field and SME feedback, personal observation, and external best practices.
- Skills and Knowledge Requirements: Highly creative and looking to apply this creativity in the form of interactions, multimedia inclusion, and motivation strategies to produce unique and successful learning programs.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills including the ability to write concise, creative, and effective instruction, specifically for training.
- Effective interpersonal, influence, collaboration and listening skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously; executes initiatives on time.
- Ability to effectively partner and communicate with Operations and the Home Office with people at all levels and in all functions within the organization; proven ability to understand and respond to a diverse population.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and contribute to fast-paced projects.
- MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: BA or BS Degree in Instructional Design, Learning Technologies, Communications, English, Business, or related discipline. Combinations of certificate and work experience may be considered.
- 1-2 years of instructional design experience (internships, contract roles, or academic projects may be considered).
- Basic proficiency in eLearning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline and Articulate Rise).
- Familiarity with video creation and editing.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro) a plus.
- E-learning portfolio optional.
