About the role

  • Managing a small team of Assistant Accountants; and working in close collaboration with the FP&A Manager and other team members so as to ensure efficient and valuable output is produced by the finance function
  • Manage the Group’s annual and interim financial reporting in line with a strict timetable
  • Preparation of the core financial statements and appropriate notes, in in line with International Accounting Standards
  • Ensuring key deliverables are provided to auditors (in good time and with good quality), and support the GFC, CFO and the Audit Committee over the audit process
  • Ensure complex accounting entries are calculated as required, including Share Options; Derivative Accounting; Deferred Tax and other key policies
  • Produce subsidiary accounts for all Group entities
  • Manage the month end process and the Group consolidation to ensure that:
  • Inputs into the process are co-ordinated and all deadlines are met
  • Balance sheet reconciliations are prepared, reviewed and of auditable quality on a monthly basis
  • Management accounts are produced as required for all internal and external stakeholders
  • Best Estimate view of performance is kept under review and inputs co-ordinated from all parties
  • Managing the Accounts Payable team, ensuring smooth running of the purchase to pay cycle and developing the individuals within the team
  • Support the Group’s budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Manage the Group’s tax affairs and submit relevant returns to tax authorities, with support from advisers, across Corporation Tax, VAT, CCL and other taxes as appropriate
  • Provide company secretarial support, including Companies House returns, administration of the Group’s share option and SAYE schemes, and interface with the Group’s NOMAD for governance and compliance issues
  • Support the development of the Group’s ERP system
  • Ad-hoc projects as required

Requirements

  • Technically Solid – familiar with IAS and audit processes, preferably with exposure to reporting in a listed plc
  • Ambitious – The desire to join an expanding Group, to hit the ground running whilst being hungry to grow your role and develop new skills
  • Highly Analytical – naturally curious & clear understanding of complex financial information, and the ability to summarise for finance and non-finance people
  • Digitally savvy – a good understanding of analytical tools and turning data into insight
  • Motivated – you have a “can do” attitude and an endless appetite to learn
  • Team player – you’re happy to help fellow colleagues and be part of a winning team
  • Goal orientated – you love hitting and exceeding targets
  • Energy – Energy supply industry knowledge is preferable, but not essential
