About the role
- Advances organizational priorities by translating national direction into clear, actionable supports that strengthen local Y operational excellence and drive a healthier, more effective YMCA Movement.
- Accelerates Y-USA’s long-term vision of Creating Connected Communities by strengthening alignment between the Y’s Christian heritage and its response to urgent community needs, including loneliness, disconnection, and declining civic engagement.
- Leads efforts to build shared goals, strengthen alignment, and enhance the credibility of Y-USA strategies across local Ys, alliances, and service delivery partners to ensure coordinated and consistent impact.
- Oversees the Faith & Community Connections Leading Practice area within Y-USA’s Service Delivery System, designing and implementing programs, practices, and resources that are grounded in the Y’s faith heritage, aligned with our strategic vision, and welcoming to those from diverse faith traditions and those with no faith affiliation.
- Develops and manages activation approaches that advance organizational priorities ensuring Ys and partners have the resources, guidance, and capacity to engage effectively, including: Designs and develops adult leadership development learning journeys grounded in Christian principles, including modules, multimedia content, and active learning experiences.
- Leads the creation and activation of a national storytelling initiative (including training, tools, templates and media resources) that highlights the Y’s faith-based heritage and its relevance to modern community challenges.
- Engages the YMCA network to promote systemwide adoption of Y-USA tools, products, and solutions; identifies bright spots; and provides programmatic support to Network Partners.
- Collects and analyzes data, signals, and industry trends to inform continuous quality improvement strategies and identify opportunities for innovation.
- Collaborates with governmental, nonprofit, faith-based, academic, and private partners to support national initiatives, increase influence, and advance mission aligned strategies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher required in a relevant field such as Business, or related disciplines required
- Advanced degree strongly preferred
- 8-12 years of experience required
- Expert functional skills, advanced industry knowledge and experience, advanced managerial skills
- Manages multiple teams or functions
- Strategic and operational decision-making authority
- Highly complex tasks and managerial tasks
- Minimal supervision
