About the role

  • Coordinate staff engaging with members on the wellness floor through activities, programs and events.
  • Work closely with Health & Wellness Director; Associate staff report to the Director.
  • Model professional behaviors and provide direct member service including training Y clients.
  • Lead small group training sessions and provide floor shift coverage.
  • Ensure programs operate at the highest quality level for target markets.
  • Train staff on systems usage including Expresso Interactive, Direct TV, and related media.
  • Ensure all equipment is in working order; report non-functioning equipment and follow up on service within 24 hours.
  • Create floor coverage schedule and manage coverage 100% of operating hours (108 hours per week).
  • Complete and manage payroll for fitness floor staff to prevent overtime.
  • Direct and influence staff on best practices and protocols.
  • Assist Health and Wellness Director with driving personal training revenue to exceed branch year-end goal.
  • Ensure floor staff have Par Q, daily cleaning list, member workout cards, Get Started appointment logs and related paperwork.
  • Implement medically based wellness programs and design four quarterly Member Challenge Programs per year.
  • Assist with special events planning and delivery (5K Family events, Healthy Kids Day, Monthly Expresso bike challenge, etc.).
  • Attend and participate in YMCA of Greater Boston trainings and health and wellness staff meetings.
  • Assist in branch fundraising efforts as requested.
  • Work two opening shifts and one weekend shift per week; present a professional image and remain current in required trainings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • At least three years experience instructing in related programs.
  • Experience in personal training, and health and wellness programming.
  • ACSM-cpt, NSCA-cpt, or Cooper Personal trainer certification
  • Child Abuse Prevention and Sexual Harassment Prevention
  • YMCA Principles of Healthy Lifestyles
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications
  • Ability to physically and verbally interact with members and staff.
  • Ability to lift amounts up to 50 lbs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organization and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to supervise staff and volunteers while handling multiple functions.
  • Computer Literate
