Develop, implement, and continuously refine video content strategies aligned with Yelp’s overarching social media and brand goals in partnership with the Head of Social Media
Manage the content calendar: plan, schedule, and coordinate regular uploads and campaigns that spotlight local businesses, Yelp experiences, and brand initiatives across multiple platforms
Ideate and create engaging video storylines/briefs: partner closely with content, creative, and production teams to bring compelling stories to life
Source and curate user-generated content, influencer partnerships, and community spotlights to expand content variety and authenticity
Optimize video elements (captions, hashtags, covers, descriptions) for discoverability, platform algorithms, and maximum viewer retention
Collaborate with analytics teams to set, track, and report on KPIs (views, engagement, follower growth, shares, etc.) and proactively refine strategy based on insights
Stay ahead of social video trends, platform updates, and content best practices—testing new formats and creative approaches for impact
Engage with the social community: respond to comments and foster authentic conversations to build loyalty and community
Ensure all content is brand-aligned and compliant with legal and copyright guidelines
Partner with cross-functional teams (social, creative, PR, community, product) to integrate short-form initiatives with campaign launches and company priorities
Serve as a resource for broader social media planning, providing support, expertise, and content guidance to help drive growth and engagement
Work with the Creative team to establish and maintain Yelp’s overarching social tone and voice.
Requirements
5+ years managing social media platforms, preferably YouTube, for a consumer brand, media company, or creator-led business
Deep knowledge of social video best practices, algorithms, trends, and audience development
Experience developing creative briefs, storyboarding, and collaborating with creative or production teams from concept to final cut
Strong understanding of video optimization techniques for discoverability and engagement (platform-specific SEO, hashtags, trending audio, etc.)
Skilled at analyzing social performance data, distilling insights, and making strategic recommendations
Up-to-date on platform policies, emerging content formats, and audience engagement tactics across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram Reels, and similar channels
Excellent communication and project management skills; able to coordinate cross-functional partners, advocate for social strategy, and deliver campaigns on time
High attention to detail, a results-driven mindset, and adaptability with creative problem-solving skills
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Media, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Passion for digital storytelling, community building, and Yelp’s mission to support local discovery.
