About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support maintenance and reliability-based projects, working closely with operations, maintenance, and project teams
- Assist in planning, budgeting, cost control, and job prioritisation activities
- Coordinate jobs, review scopes, ensure quality execution, post-job documentation and SAP update
- Assist in drafting scope of works for static projects and liaising with Procurement team for tendering process
- Apply engineering principles in analyzing static loads, pressure loads, thermal expansion, vibration effects, and piping support stress calculations
- Contribute to preventive maintenance processes and asset management practices
- Participate in quality inspections, equipment assessments and commissioning activities
- Perform data analysis, root cause analysis, and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Develop experience in contractor management, job coordination, and safety planning
- Build knowledge of Major Hazard Facility requirements, engineering standards, and statutory compliance
- Gain exposure to condition monitoring, static equipment (pressure vessels, piping, valves), and applicable codes and standards (ASME, API, AS, ISO)
- Support plant reliability, efficiency, and cost optimisation initiatives
- Apply a systematic and analytical approach to problem-solving and decision-making
- Review and assist in drafting Engineering drawings in AutoCAD
- Compliance with Safety and regulatory requirements for pressure vessels, PRV’s and Inspection / Asset integrity requirements
- Complete required HESQ training, participate in emergency response activities, and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment (including opportunities to take on site emergency roles)
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with Masters/Honours or equivalent
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal), with fluency in English essential
- The ability to work effectively in a team environment
- A proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and development
- The ability to perform work responsibly, minimising risks and potential issues
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Australian or New Zealand citizenship, or permanent residency (temporary visa holders are not eligible)
- A willingness to relocate to Karratha, WA for the duration of the program
