About the role

Develop and maintain high-performing systems that protect users from spam, phishing, fraud, and abuse using advanced ML/AI algorithms
Design for extreme reliability, resilience, and performance; perform performance tuning and debugging
Work on architecture design, algorithm development, and data engineering to innovate anti-spam solutions
Collaborate with Engineers, Product Managers, and Designers to deliver next-generation Yahoo Mail experiences
Adhere to Yahoo policies; exercise sound judgment; work effectively, safely and inclusively with others; safeguard business operations and brand integrity

BS/MS in Computer Science or related field with a strong understanding of the fundamentals including Data Structures, Algorithms, OS, and Networking
3+ years experience in software development with Java or C++ or Golang
Experience with public cloud technologies (GCP, AWS)
Outstanding troubleshooting and debugging skills with performance tuning experience
Great communicator, enjoys helping people, remains friendly and constructive under stress
Preferred: Experience with big data technologies like AirFlow, DataProc, HBase, and Spark
Preferred: Previous exposure to anti-spam or anti-abuse engineering
Preferred: Familiarity with data mining, text processing, and classification algorithms
Preferred: Proficiency in statistical methods and exploratory data analysis
