About the role

  • Lead the design of Yahoo’s universal navigation experiences across products and platforms, ensuring clarity, consistency, and scalability.
  • Design navigation systems that support a wide range of user intents while balancing business priorities and long-term platform needs.
  • Translate complex information architectures into intuitive, elegant interfaces with strong visual hierarchy and interaction design.
  • Collaborate with researchers to identify when research is needed, interpret findings, and synthesize patterns across qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Use AI-powered tools and workflows to rapidly explore concepts, generate alternatives, and create interactive prototypes throughout the design process.
  • Prototype early and often—at low, medium, and high fidelity—to test assumptions, validate behaviors, and communicate design intent.
  • Advocate for accessibility, usability, and inclusive design across all navigation patterns and interactions.
  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering, content, analytics, and design partners to deliver production-ready solutions at scale.
  • Work alongside Senior Principal Product Designers on cross-cutting initiatives where navigation plays a critical role, aligning system-level decisions across teams.
  • Present work clearly and confidently to stakeholders, articulating rationale, tradeoffs, and decision-making under ambiguity.
  • Contribute to design critiques and help evolve shared navigation patterns, components, and systems across Yahoo.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, HCI, Visual Communication, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience designing digital products, preferably within large-scale platforms, content-rich ecosystems, or navigation frameworks.
  • A portfolio demonstrating strong systems thinking, excellent visual and interaction design craft, and polished execution.
  • Experience working on cross-functional product teams and shipping work at scale.
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and accessibility standards.
  • Proficiency in Figma and modern prototyping tools; experience with AI-assisted design and prototyping workflows is required.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and presentation skills.
