About the role
- Take a critical look at our current AWS architecture and identify opportunities for improvement in reliability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
- Own infrastructure reliability and availability - design monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes that catch issues before they become problems.
- Design and architect scalable, high-performance systems that handle real-time payment processing and financial transactions at scale.
- Manage and optimize our databases (Aurora, DynamoDB) and drive infrastructure as code practices, automation, and deployment pipelines that enable the team to ship fast and safely.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and propose improvements when they fit our domain.
- Own security and compliance aspects of our infrastructure - understand fintech regulations, data protection, and security best practices.
Requirements
- 4+ years designing and operating infrastructure in production environments.
- 2-3+ years with AWS (Lambda, S3, Aurora, RDS, DynamoDB, Cognito, API Gateway, SNS/SQS).
- Practical experience with Infrastructure as Code.
- Strong scripting skills and ability to automate operational tasks.
- Experience with event-driven architectures and asynchronous processing patterns.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically about trade-offs.
- Ownership mentality: when something breaks, you understand why and prevent recurrence.
- Comfortable with ambiguity and proposing solutions to undefined problems.
- Nice-to-Have: AWS certifications (AWS DevOps Professional, AWS Solutions Architect Professional).
- Experience in regulated industries (fintech, banking, healthcare) or deep understanding of compliance and security requirements.
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, CloudWatch).
- CI/CD pipeline experience.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (VPC, security groups, firewalls, routing).
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading technical initiatives.
