About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Configure and customize ServiceNow modules, including IT Service Management (ITSM), IT Operations Management (ITOM), IT Asset Management (ITAM), Customer Service Management
- Develop custom applications using ServiceNow App Engine and Flow Designer
- Build and maintain business rules, client and server scripts, UI policies and actions, ACLs, notifications, and catalog items
- Develop integrations using REST, SOAP, IntegrationHub, MID server, and external APIs
- Collaborate with business analysts and government stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions
- Participate in Agile software development activities, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, demonstrations, and retrospectives
- Perform unit testing, integration testing, system testing, and user acceptance testing support
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement timely corrective actions
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including solution designs, configuration guides, and operational procedures
- Support platform upgrades, patching, and release management activities
- Implement secure coding practices and ensure solutions comply with federal security and governance requirements
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with federal security standards including NIST, FedRAMP, FISMA, and agency-specific policies
- Support Authority to Operate (ATO) activities and security assessments
- Ensure solutions comply with Section 508 accessibility requirements when applicable
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline (or equivalent professional experience)
- 3–7 years of professional software development experience
- 2-5 years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience
- Strong programming experience with one or more of the following: JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, C#, Python, C++
- Experience developing JavaScript, HTML, CSS, C++, and Python
- Experience with ServiceNow Studio, Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, Script Includes, Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Actions, and Catalog development
- Experience developing REST APIs and web applications
- Experience with Git and modern version control practices
- Familiarity with relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Oracle SQL Developer
- Experience working in Agile software development environments
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
