About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the designated Remote Pilot in Command for assigned UAS operations, with final operational authority for flight safety, regulatory compliance, and mission execution
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute VLOS, BVLOS, and DIAB missions under applicable procedures, authorizations, waivers, and standards
  • Conduct pre-flight assessments covering weather, airspace, terrain, hazards, communications, aircraft status, batteries, payloads, and mission risk
  • Perform infrastructure inspections, damage assessments, emergency response support, and situational awareness missions across electric and gas operations
  • Monitor operating conditions and make real-time decisions to adapt, delay, suspend, or terminate missions when risk is unacceptable
  • Coordinate with field operations, system operators, visual observers, spotters, airspace stakeholders, and RPOC team members
  • Capture, verify, and manage imagery, video, telemetry, and other mission data according to program and chain-of-custody requirements
  • Complete pre-flight and post-flight records, maintenance logs, flight activity records, incident reports, and other documentation
  • Conduct post-flight shutdown, equipment inspection, battery management, mission review, and discrepancy or maintenance escalation
  • Inspect, maintain, and safeguard aircraft, sensors, batteries, software, field equipment, vehicles, and support materials
  • Support mission coordination by aligning field logistics and communicating operational constraints
  • Interact with internal stakeholders, external partners, regulators, and the public
  • Provide feedback on operational risks, process improvements, lessons learned, training, and procedures

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate in good standing, with ability to maintain currency and required qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of UAS, aviation, air traffic control, or closely related operational experience
  • Experience conducting field operations in industrial, utility, infrastructure, public safety, or similarly complex environments
  • Ability to execute missions according to procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements while exercising sound judgment
  • Experience with mission planning, risk assessment, pre-flight and post-flight procedures, and operational documentation
  • Ability to maintain situational awareness across multiple assets, operating conditions, and environmental variables
  • Experience operating or overseeing multiple UAS simultaneously where authorized and applicable
  • Ability to work independently in remote or field-based environments with limited direct supervision
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for coordinating across operational, technical, and safety-focused stakeholders
  • Willingness and ability to travel, work in variable outdoor conditions, and support on-call, after-hours, weekend, or emergency response operations
  • Preferred: Air Traffic Control facility ratings, military aviation experience, or advanced aviation credentials
  • Preferred: Experience with BVLOS, waiver-based operations, or advanced regulated UAS mission profiles
  • Preferred: Experience with thermal, zoom, LiDAR, or other sensor payloads
  • Preferred: Utility, transmission, distribution, pipeline, or critical infrastructure inspection experience
  • Preferred: Knowledge of utility operations, emergency response, incident command, or field safety practices
  • Preferred: Experience with standardization, training support, or operational process improvement
