About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Process requests for patient transportation
- Ensure proper medical necessity when possible
- Coordinate pre-approvals when necessary
- Assist with Physician Certification Statement completion and compliance with requesting facilities
- Answer phone calls and provide exceptional customer service
- Monitor ground asset locations for accurate tracking and transport coordination
- Use the CAD system to enter call information and assign assets efficiently
- Work with mutual aid agencies to coordinate transport needs
- Ensure paperwork compliance and crew feedback processes
- Provide logistics support and restock assets
- Assist with data entry, filing, and keeping operations organized
- Provide administrative and operational support across patient care documentation, logistics, supply chain, facilities, and related areas
- Collaborate with the Monongalia EMS Duty supervisor
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to utilize required computing systems
- Reliable and self-motivated
- Ability to understand and solve complex problems
- Exceptional organizational skills and high attention to detail
- Flexibility and ability to work on multiple projects
- Ability to follow a standardized call intake process
- Preferred: Certified Dispatcher
- Preferred: Current or previous medical certification or license (EMT, Paramedic, Clinical Associate, Medical Assistant, RN, etc.)
- Preferred: At least two years of experience as a dispatcher
- Preferred: At least two years as a medical provider
- Preferred: Experience in the EMS industry
- Preferred: Experience with Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems (Zoll and/or Zeurcher)
- Preferred: Experience in EMS billing, coding, and compliance
- Physical ability to perform climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling heavy objects
- Ability to perceive and discriminate colors, sounds, odors, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals
- Ability to communicate orally
- Ability to work in field environments potentially involving adverse conditions and hazards
