About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Evaluate and provide care for respiratory therapy patients
Administer prescribed respiratory therapeutic services
Perform basic and advanced therapeutic procedures for neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients by physician order
Assemble, check, correct malfunctions, and perform quality controls on Respiratory Care equipment
Initiate, maintain, and discontinue mechanical ventilation for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients
Communicate with healthcare team members regarding patient care
Assist with patient and family/caregiver education
Participate in departmental quality assurance and hospital-wide performance improvement activities
Perform basic and advanced diagnostic procedures by physician order
Maintain clinical and professional competency according to established standards
Perform all relevant departmental competencies

Requirements

What you’ll need

Licensed respiratory therapist in the applicable state where services will be performed
Maryland licensure: Respiratory Care Practitioner through Maryland Board of Physicians; or Ohio: Respiratory Care Professional through Ohio Board of Medicine; or Pennsylvania: Respiratory Therapist through Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine; or West Virginia: Licensed Respiratory Therapist Certified (LRTC) or Licensed Respiratory Therapist Registered (LRTR) through West Virginia Board of Respiratory Care
Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire
Department-level certifications may include ACLS, PALS, NRP, STABLE, and Point of Care Technician through the West Virginia Department of Health & Human Resources
Preferred: Registered Respiratory Therapist
Preferred: two years respiratory therapist experience
Ability to stand/walk for extended periods
Ability to lift, push, and/or pull 40 pounds
Good interpersonal communication skills
Multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
Clinical ladder levels require specified experience, degree, certifications, and domain points
