About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead project teams on organization-wide mid-to-low risk IT projects affecting multiple people across a limited number of areas or departments
  • Manage smaller-scale projects as needed
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate all aspects of IT projects, including work plans, reporting, issue tracking, scope, costs, resources, timelines, communications, and risks
  • Collaborate with IT, vendors, and customers to ensure successful project completion
  • Serve as liaison between Information Technology and affiliated health-system practices
  • Conduct on-site visits, facilitate communication, resolve client requests, and oversee issue resolution outside defined projects
  • Review project proposals and determine goals, timelines, funding, approach, staffing, deliverables, and resource allocation
  • Create and maintain project work plans, scopes/charters, schedules, information processes, issue/risk logs, and change-control documentation
  • Communicate project status, issues, and successes to teams, management, and stakeholders
  • Conduct routine project meetings and provide guidance, direction, motivation, and performance discussion
  • Manage internal project resources and external consultants, contractors, and vendors
  • Schedule project activities and team work; manage vendor relationships, escalations, and invoicing
  • Manage project budgets typically under $500,000
  • Identify and resolve project problems, evaluate alternatives, and facilitate solutions
  • Establish relationships, resolve conflicts, influence stakeholders, and keep projects on course
  • Use project-management software and tools including Windows, MS Project, MS Office, and MS SharePoint
  • Participate in departmental planning, change implementation, staff meetings, and productivity improvement
  • Mentor, train, coach, and support co-workers; create and update internal documentation
  • Travel to other facilities or affiliated sites for implementations, training, and support as required
  • Adhere to WVUHS and assigned-entity policies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, MIS, or a related field required, OR four years of relevant experience such as project management, project coordination, project lead, or systems analysis required
  • Internal employees must meet all mandatory competencies in their current position to qualify for promotion within IT
  • Certified Associate in Project Management certification preferred
  • One year of hospital or hospital Information Technology experience preferred
  • Thorough understanding of project management phases, techniques, and tools
  • Strong, tested project management skills, including sponsor and risk management
  • Working knowledge of Windows, MS Project, MS Office, and MS SharePoint
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information
  • Ability to work under high-stress conditions
  • Ability to work independently or cooperatively as a team member
  • Ability to adapt to varied workloads and assignments
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary groups
  • Reading and comprehension ability
  • Ability to type
  • Good oral and written communication skills
