About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Accurately codes and/or audits complex surgical procedures including Bariatric surgery and Cardiothoracic surgery
- Reviews and interprets medical record documentation to assign appropriate codes
- Maintains and enhances coding knowledge through quality review and participation in seminars
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Current HIM/Coding Certification through AHIMA or AAPC
- Must obtain Specialty Medical Coding Certification through AAPC within one (1) year of hire
- Three (3) years of medical coding experience including one (1) year of advanced surgical coding experience
