Ambulatory Care Assistant – MA
WVU MedicineAmbulatory Care Assistant providing patient treatment and clerical support in outpatient clinic. Assisting medical staff in various patient care duties.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform various duties related to patient care and treatment as directed by attending providers
- Provide clerical and clinical support to medical staff in assigned unit
- Provide support to medical staff to assure patients' needs are met
- Assist providers in completing requisitions or forms for patient examination or testing
- Administer prescribed medication under supervision of attending provider
- Perform qualitative and quantitative tests and examinations of specimens
- Obtain and document patients’ specimens as ordered
- Schedule additional ancillary testing as needed
- May assist Registration Specialist with deposit of money and late night coverage
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program OR graduate of the Med Ed Program OR one (1) year of clinical experience
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire
- State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable), as required for regulated areas
- Registration or Certification as a medical assistant (preferred)
- One (1) year experience as a Medical Assistant or patient care (preferred)
