About the role

  • As the Fiscal Officer/Management Analyst, you are responsible for conducting strategic financial analysis and preparing reports for the Washington State University (WSU) Office of the Provost and its affiliated units. Key duties of your position, include managing accounting and financial systems in Workday, ensuring compliance with University, State, and Federal regulations, and overseeing daily financial operations. Manage day-to-day financial services, which may include accounts receivable/payable, purchasing, budgeting, payroll, personnel, travel, inventory, recordkeeping, auditing, and grant/contract administration. Provide complex and confidential financial support to the Office of the Provost, exercising independent judgment and decision-making while managing competing deadlines with a high level of accuracy and accountability. Establish, maintain, and monitor financial records for multiple service centers. Develop and manage resource allocations and evaluate program outcomes through financial analysis, expenditure planning, account reconciliation, and program coordination. Support fiscal staff across departments by advising on Workday procedures and updates to University policies. Assist in developing and delivering financial training programs for departmental staff, covering topics such as budgeting, analysis, Workday functionality, dynamic reporting, and best practices. Collaborate on special projects for the Executive Director for Finance and Provost staff, including college-level audits and maintaining Run Rate analysis. This position reports to the Senior Manager – Budget and Fiscal Analysis under the Executive Director for Finance in the Office of the Provost.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, economics or a related field, and three (3) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with various financial activities such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, travel, personnel, cost analysis, and budget planning. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience demonstrating advanced knowledge of accounting principles and practices, budget development, financial management, and internal controls. Experience which demonstrates strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Experience that demonstrates financial analysis, forecasting, and financial reporting skills.
