Tech Stack
About the role
- Build and operate the cloud infrastructure (AWS), integrating third-party vendor SDKs and APIs, and owning the cloud-side reception layer for reliability, data integrity, and scale
- Design the end-to-end data architecture and make key decisions across the stack — event-driven vs. polling, streaming vs. batch, and storage strategy for time-series and media data
- Design and implement the APIs that the rest of the engineering team and mobile app will build against
- Contribute to development of the consumer-facing iOS/Android app, defining client-side architecture and overseeing implementation of core features
- Apply and improve standards for observability, alerting, and KPI tracking from day one, and lead system hardening for the real-world pilot
- Support cross-functional β readiness and own the NFR backlog, ensuring launch criteria are met across cybersecurity, privacy (PIA), and operational observability
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in full stack software development
- Ability to design distributed systems or data pipelines, with clear reasoning on tradeoffs between consistency, availability, and cost — including real-time and near-real-time data systems
- Hands on cloud infrastructure experience with AWS, including architecture decisions, not just deployment
- Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Python, TypeScript, or Go, with solid understanding of SQL, NoSQL, and async communication protocols
- Experience integrating third-party SDKs or APIs, with solid understanding of IoT constraints such as connectivity loss, data ordering, and device limitations, and how they affect cloud-side architecture
- Experience designing and implementing REST/GraphQL APIs
- Experience with DevOps tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and Docker
- Business Level Japanese
