About the role

  • Lead all health and benefit programs and payroll related functions for the company
  • Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations
  • Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions
  • Conducts audits of payroll, benefits or other HR programs and recommends corrective action
  • Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts
  • Creates and administers benefit repayment plans
  • Communicates interdepartmentally to ensure proper processing of benefit billing
  • Leads the open enrollment process
  • Assist with payroll process as needed to ensure efficient and accurate processing
  • Assists with processing of termination by calculating and creating final checks
  • Assists with FMLA and Workers Comp cases
  • Assisting with providing research for policies, training, strategic planning, and other human resource issues
  • Assists or prepares correspondence as requested

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in benefits administration is required
  • 1+ years of payroll experience preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with self-funding medical plans
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with mainstream HRIS programs required (Paycom experience is a plus)
  • Knowledge of Canadian benefits helpful, but not required
  • Retail industry experience and/or knowledge of retail operations preferred but not required
