About the role
- Lead all health and benefit programs and payroll related functions for the company
- Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations
- Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions
- Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions
- Conducts audits of payroll, benefits or other HR programs and recommends corrective action
- Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts
- Creates and administers benefit repayment plans
- Communicates interdepartmentally to ensure proper processing of benefit billing
- Leads the open enrollment process
- Assist with payroll process as needed to ensure efficient and accurate processing
- Assists with processing of termination by calculating and creating final checks
- Assists with FMLA and Workers Comp cases
- Assisting with providing research for policies, training, strategic planning, and other human resource issues
- Assists or prepares correspondence as requested
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in benefits administration is required
- 1+ years of payroll experience preferred
- Knowledge and experience with self-funding medical plans
- Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Experience with mainstream HRIS programs required (Paycom experience is a plus)
- Knowledge of Canadian benefits helpful, but not required
- Retail industry experience and/or knowledge of retail operations preferred but not required
