About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct home visits to identify pregnant and breastfeeding women and children under five in targeted communities
  • Perform community screening for acute malnutrition in children aged 6–59 months using MUAC
  • Ensure timely referral of malnourished children and at-risk pregnant women to appropriate health facilities
  • Follow up on referred children through admission, treatment and recovery
  • Train and support mother leaders, support groups and community volunteers on health, nutrition and hygiene best practices
  • Lead community awareness sessions on exclusive breastfeeding, infant and young child feeding (IYCF), hygiene and disease prevention
  • Promote essential family practices related to maternal, newborn and child health
  • Participate in vaccination campaigns, vitamin A supplementation, deworming and other public health activities
  • Identify and quickly report cases of priority diseases, outbreaks or public health emergencies
  • Collect, compile and submit health and nutrition data
  • Attend community meetings, coordination meetings with health facilities and project planning sessions
  • Support community accountability mechanisms, complaints handling and sharing of project results
  • Ensure compliance with child protection, safeguarding, gender and inclusion policies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • NS2 level or completed secondary education
  • Training in community health, nutrition, social work or a related field
  • Minimum 2–3 years' experience in community health or nutrition activities
  • Experience screening for malnutrition using MUAC
  • Experience in community mobilization and awareness-raising
  • Strong data collection and reporting skills
  • Proficiency with smartphones and digital data collection tools
