About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Schedule health screening appointments for refugee clients within 30–90 days of arrival
  • Assist with transportation planning and provision, including connecting clients to public transportation
  • Schedule follow-up immunizations and address barriers to care
  • Communicate with the health screening clinic and attend bi-monthly collaboration and client coordination meetings
  • Obtain referrals for follow-up appointments from the health screening clinic
  • Orient new arrivals to the U.S. health care system, prescriptions, medical insurance, primary care, and emergency-room use
  • Refer clients to community resources and service providers, including free or low-cost health care options
  • Coordinate with medical providers to help clients follow their plans of care
  • Help clients identify primary care providers and access local pharmacies
  • Coordinate health workshops and collaborate with local health care providers
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external service providers, resettlement staff, volunteers, and Volunteer Services
  • Assist clients with health insurance, public benefits, LIHEAP, documents, IDs, and other paperwork
  • Conduct client follow-ups, track needs, and follow through until resolution
  • Take ownership of assigned cases and case management tasks
  • Assist with program closures and required documentation
  • Maintain timely and accurate client files, case notes, and reporting records
  • Participate in case staffing, department meetings, staff development, trainings, community activities, and organizational events
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Mature and personal Christian faith
  • Commitment to World Relief’s mission, vision, and values
  • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
  • Ability to affirm and/or acknowledge World Relief’s Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity, and the National Association of Evangelicals’ For the Health of The Nation document
  • Valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and ability to pass MVR standards
  • MS Office skills required
  • Ability and willingness to drive a 15-passenger van
  • Ability to work occasional early mornings, evenings, or weekends as necessary
  • Demonstrated compassion, patience, cross-cultural sensitivity, and strong mediation skills
  • Ability to navigate the American health care system, including Medicaid
  • Adaptability and crisis management skills
  • Ability to communicate with limited English-speaking clients and health care professionals
  • Demonstrated teaching and coaching skills for providing ongoing orientation to refugee participants
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Self-motivation, strong follow-through, and ability to work independently
  • Fluency in an additional language such as Dari, Pashto, Arabic, Swahili, French, or Spanish strongly preferred
