About the role

  • Support and execute World Bicycle Relief’s global communications strategy: Develop, write, and edit high-quality content for multiple channels, including website, press materials, reports, and internal communications.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and storytelling across all platforms in alignment with organizational priorities and brand voice.
  • Lead internal communications efforts and improvements, including global town halls, intranet management, email updates, etc.
  • Lead media relations efforts by drafting press releases, pitch materials, briefing documents, and backgrounders.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders on story, data, and asset collection.
  • Secure speaking engagements and interviews for WBR representatives.
  • Submit for and steward relevant awards and recognition to bolster brand awareness and credibility.
  • Assist in preparing executives and spokespeople with talking points, briefing documents, and presentation materials.
  • Manage and organize communications assets, including written content, a media placement tracker, team bios, case studies, etc.
  • Build media/entertainment partnerships to advance WBR’s mission and earned media Monitor media coverage and communications performance, contributing to reporting and insights.
  • Provide support for campaigns, announcements, events, and key moments throughout the year.
  • Lead the collaboration with global communications colleagues for shared and cohesive OKRs that support the organization's goals.
  • Support crisis communications planning and execution in collaboration with the Executive Director of Marketing & Communications and senior leadership.
  • Work with external vendors, freelancers, and agencies as needed to support communications deliverables.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field; nonprofit or international development experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related discipline.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to tailor messages for diverse audiences and channels.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Experience supporting media relations, executive communications, or thought leadership initiatives.
  • Collaborative working style and strong interpersonal skills, with comfort engaging stakeholders across teams and geographies.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong sense of editorial quality and brand consistency.
  • Experience and comfort working with global teams across multiple timezones.
  • Mission-driven and results-oriented, with a passion for World Bicycle Relief’s work and impact.
