About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Teach and develop online and/or onsite cybersecurity courses
  • Maintain andragogical and subject matter expertise
  • Create a positive learning environment for diverse learners
  • Ensure course and program practices align with compliance and accreditation standards
  • Adhere to National University’s academic integrity policy
  • Maintain a productive scholarship agenda
  • Engage in scholarly activities and professional development
  • Participate in curriculum oversight, shared governance, and the student experience
  • Serve on university committees and engage in community activities promoting program outreach and university goals
  • Participate in program meetings and advisory boards
  • Create, modify, and update BS Cybersecurity course material
  • Direct strategy, operations, and support for the B.S. Cybersecurity degree program
  • Serve as primary spokesperson and information source for program faculty and students
  • Initiate and approve changes to ensure program quality, student engagement, and success
  • Conduct program assessment with the Director of Assessment
  • Incorporate industry trends and changes into the curriculum
  • Collaborate on course development, updating, and maintenance
  • Meet regularly with College leadership to align the program with University and College goals

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master’s degree in Cybersecurity or a related discipline required for Professor of Practice rank
  • Terminal degree in Cybersecurity or a related discipline required for Assistant Professor and Associate Professor ranks
  • Minimum 5 years of full-time faculty experience in higher education required for Associate Professor rank
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience, significant professional achievement, and minimum 3 years of teaching/training experience required for Professor of Practice rank
  • At least 2+ years of industry experience in cybersecurity required
  • Industry certification such as CISSP, SANS GIAC, CEH, CISM, or CISA required
  • Leadership or program management experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with National Security Agency Centers of Academic Excellence programs preferred
  • Active involvement in the cybersecurity community preferred
  • Background check required
  • Travel at least once annually to annual Commencement ceremony if held onsite
  • Travel to cybersecurity-related events, typically 3–5 annually
  • Cover letter including industry-related certifications, teaching experience, and industry experience

  • Statement of teaching experience online and/or onsite
