About the role
- Supervise a team of payroll professionals, providing mentorship, training, and support.
- Manage end-to-end payroll processes, including accurate and timely preparation of all payrolls (weekly, biweekly, monthly).
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and wage laws and oversee accurate production and distribution of W-2 Forms and year-end tax reporting.
- Administer enterprise resource planning systems (Workday, ADP, OSV, etc.), audit payroll cycle batches, and ensure proper uploads to the general ledger.
- Research, analyze, and resolve escalated payroll issues, including audits and budget variances.
- Review and audit monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliation of payroll reports, assist with third-party payroll requests, and support workers’ compensation audits.
- Actively engage with cross-functional leadership to support business strategies and foster collaborative relationships.
- Foster a cooperative and inclusive team environment, adapting to multiple deadlines and changing priorities.
- Actively seeks opportunities to influence, build effective relationships and gain alignment with peers, functional partners and/or external partners to accomplish business objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field required.
- Eight (8) or more years of relevant payroll professional experience in a high-volume environment
- Eight (8) or more years of experience leading or supervising a team
- An equivalent combination of education or experience may be accepted
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred
- Superior knowledge of payroll processing and accounting principles in a high-volume organization.
- Advanced understanding of payroll regulations, tax requirements, and labor laws.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and payroll systems such as Workday, ADP and OSV.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement and operational efficiency.
