About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Coordinate the execution of a variety of projects within Wood’s Projects Canada business
  • Support greenfield and brownfield projects across Studies, DBM, FEED, and Detailed Design/Execution phases
  • Ensure compliance with engineering procedures, company standards, and quality control requirements
  • Interface and coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, and suppliers
  • Provide technical input for P&ID development and review
  • Specify, select, and size field instrumentation, control valves, on/off valves, relief valves, and associated control devices
  • Prepare and review Control Philosophies, Control Narratives, Cause & Effect Diagrams, and Control System Architectures
  • Apply knowledge of industrial communication networks and fiber optic systems
  • Participate in HAZOP, LOPA, and SIL studies and reviews
  • Prepare and review instrument loop diagrams, system cabinet designs, and control-system wiring drawings
  • Review project documentation for scope alignment, technical accuracy, completeness, and presentation quality
  • Prepare Material Requisitions, Technical Bid Evaluations, and equipment award recommendations
  • Prepare and review Instrument Indexes, I/O Lists, I/O Assignments, and Load Lists
  • Maintain regular communication with vendors, clients, and internal project stakeholders
  • Provide technical support during Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Diploma in Instrumentation Technology or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum eight years of industry experience in Instrumentation & Controls engineering
  • Strong understanding of API, ASME, CSA, and ISA codes, standards, and directives
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Experience in the Oil & Gas industry (desirable)
  • Experience using SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI/Intools) (desirable)
  • Registration with, or eligibility for registration through, APEGA (desirable)
